How to find us
We will be running a bus shuttle service from Downpatrick to the festival site. To get to Downpatrick please take the No. 15 bus from the Europa bus centre (just behind the Europa Hotel.) Buses leave every half hour. Please make sure you leave Belfast no later than 6.30 in the evening as it takes an hour to get to Downpatrick and we’ll be stopping our shuttle at 8.30. These shuttles will run on Thursday from 12-8.30, Friday from 9-8.30, Sunday from 12-8 and Monday 9-1. Outside of these times people will have to find alternative means of getting to the site.
BY AIR:
If you are travelling from mainland UK please book a flight to either Belfast City or Belfast International Airport. There are public bus connections to Belfast city centre from both airports. Alternatively, Ryanair fly really cheaply into Dublin and there is an express bus service to Belfast that takes 3 hours and costs about £15 for a return ticket. Once in Belfast take the No15 bus to Downpatrick and we’ll meet you there!
BY FERRY:
If you want to drive from mainland UK, ferries can be caught from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire, (please note this is in the Republic of Ireland and the drive to the site will take 2+ hours, the road is also quite bad for traffic) or Stranraer/Cairnrian to Belfast/Larne. The earlier you book the cheaper the ferry.
Directions from Larne Ferry Port: Travel to Belfast and onwards to Downpatrick. (You may find that some signs in Belfast city centre do not have Downpatrick on them, if not don’t panic, follow ones for Newcastle or Saintfield instead until you get clear of Belfast) Follow below instructions from Downpatrick.
BY CAR:
From Belfast: (including Belfast Ferry Port) Travel to Downpatrick. (Follow signs to Newcastle in Belfast City Centre if Downpatrick isn’t on the sign.) Upon entering Downpatrick, take 2nd exit (right) at the roundabout, heading towards the town centre. Go right at the 3nd set of traffic lights into Market Street. Follow this road for about 3.5 miles untill you see a sign for Tyrella beach and a road going left. Take this road. Follow it untill the far end (about 4 miles.) Turn right. Take the first entrance to the left. Stewards will direct you from here. We have LOADS of parking so there'll be more than enough room for everyone, but be aware that we are charging a £5 green tax on any cars with fewer than three people in.
Directions from Dublin: Travel from Dublin to Newry (N1-M1 signposted Belfast) At Newry Coughogue roundabout take 3rd exit (A1) signposted Warrenpoint/Newry. Next roundabout take 2nd exit A25 signposted Raithfriland. After 7 miles bear right staying on A25. Entering Raithfriland. Turn right onto Newry Street (A25) Continue for 8.5 miles. Entering Castlewellan. At roundabout take 2nd exit signposted Belfast/Downpatrick. Continue along this road (A25) for about 5 miles. When you come to the end turn right then immediately left following signs to Tyrella/Tyrella Beach. Drive for about 3 miles (past 7 roads to the right.) It gets a bit challenging after this because our gate is a bit hard to see. Its on the right about ½ a mile after the 7th road to the right. There’s a two storey gate lodge at the gate. Keep an eye out for stewards. If you see a high stonewall on the right hand side, or a road to the left called Ballydonnell road you’ve gone about 50m too far, our entrance is just where the wall starts. If you get lost ask a local the way to Tyrella House
From Dun Laoghaire Ferry Port: Follow signs for either the North or Dublin. Follow N1-M1 route towards Belfast. Upon reaching Newry follow the instructions above.
BY TRAIN:
Trains arrive into Belfast’s three main stations (Great Victoria Street, Central and York Street) regularly. Once in Belfast catch the No 15 bus from the Europa Bus station to Downpatrick and we’ll meet you there!
